The work packages at a glance

Work package 1:
Requirements definition

After completion of the requirements analysis and prioritization of the features, a careful selection of the hardware and software to be used was made. In addition, the current scientific principles relevant for the design of the algorithms were comprehensively prepared.

Work package 2:
Indoor positioning

The fundamentals for the algorithm design must be elicited. This will be followed by the laboratory test of the algorithms as part of a target/actual comparison, which is defined as milestone 1. An important task will be to increase the update rate of the position determination, followed by the development of approaches for accuracy and uncertainty modeling. Finally, the robustness of the positioning performance in the TIP must be verified as part of Milestone 2. These steps form our immediate upcoming tasks in this project section.

Work package 3:
AR streaming development

The upcoming tasks include the conceptual design and implementation of the planned solutions. After this phase, lab tests have to be conducted and an empirical evaluation of the results has to be performed, which marks the completion of milestone 1. Another key objective is to increase the update rate of the AR streaming solution. Finally, a thorough verification of the robustness of the streaming performance in the TIP is required as part of Milestone 2. These milestones are critical for the next phases of the project.

Work package 4:
Development of the assistance system

The development of a concept for an application system (AS) on mobile devices, including the associated interfaces. The next step will be the completion of an alpha version of the basic AS, which is marked as milestone 1. After that, it is planned to extend the AS with integrated information portal (IP) and AR visualization capabilities. In parallel, an IoT module will be developed to provide data from the IoT sensors and integrated into the AS. These steps are essential for the successful continuation and implementation of the project.

Work package 5: Evaluation of the AS in real scenarios

The next steps include defining the test requirements for the TIP and then setting up the test scenarios for the components and the overall system. This will be followed by testing and empirical validation of the individual components and the AS, marked by milestone 2. Finally, final optimization of all system components is planned to ensure maximum performance and efficiency.
