Description of work content and effort of the work steps
- Definition of the requirements for the overall system based on interviews with potential users and partners: The application-specific requirements for the system and the user-side prioritization are developed in a workshop in order to obtain an overall picture of the necessary, possible and feasible components at an early stage and in a comprehensive manner. In addition, the necessary local resolution for the intended context of use is also elicited.
- Screening and evaluation of available mobile hardware and software: Available smartphone models are examined, taking into account the specification of the embedded sensor technology (gyroscope, accelerometer, magnetometer, barometer, etc.) with regard to the intended context of use.
- Screening and evaluation of the current state of research and technology: the literature will be examined with respect to accurate single measurement methods and existing fusion concepts.
Outcomes and risks; milestones with termination criteria.
- Requirements analysis and property prioritization are completed
- Selection of hardware and software to be used made after detailed evaluation
- Current scientific basis for algorithm design summarized
Risks/Consequences
The hardware and software available as a result of the screening and evaluation, in particular the embedded sensor technology in combination with the identified and evaluated state of research and technology, do not promise the fulfillment of the requirements for the overall system defined on the basis of the workshop by the developments planned in the further work packages. In this case, the requirements and/or the development focus and objectives will be adjusted in a weighing process for the continuation of the project, so that a profitable overall system can still be created.
